So you've had a no good, terrible, very bad day, and you just want to make yourself feel better right away corny rhyme totally not intended there. Trust me, I get it. Bad days are the worst, and after a bad day, you probably just want to crawl into a hole aka your bed, with a glass of wine and reruns of New Girl , and never see the light of day again. That's great, but maybe consider these other ways to feel better after a bad day. Maybe you got into a screaming match with your bestie, or had a bad day at your job, or broke up with bae. But, take a deep breath, because it's all going to be OK.

First you wake up from a nightmare with a sore neck, then you leave your cell phone at home, scratch your car, and show up late to a meeting… Whether you wake up on the wrong side of the bed like the grumpy protagonist from the children's book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day or encounter a string major inconveniences throughout the morning, it's never fun to feel like you're having a bad day. But like Alexander, you probably can't just pick up and move to Australia, as enticing as it may sound. While you can't exactly solve all of those problems or hit the restart button on an "off" day, there are some smaller things you can do to interrupt and reroute the cycle. In fact, the key is to put yourself in a better headspace so you can more easily cope with all of the unlucky things piling up. I am definitely not suggesting that exercise is a cure for depression, but for your average run of the mill blues, it can be pretty bloody effective. And in my little test group of one myself nothing beats it to get me out of a bad mood.

Sometimes something awful happens and you feel like everything is hopeless and everyone is horrible and just 'oh-my-god-this-is-the-absolute-worst-how-did-I-get-here-I-just-want-to-curl-up-and-cry'. It sucks. I've had my share of those days over the last twelve months. This is how I have managed to get through them and come out the other side. Take a breath Stop.
