Essentials of Economics by Bradley R. Schiller

This is a textbook, dont get me wrong. But every time I pick it up to do a little studying for class, Im amazed at how well-written it is. Its simple to understand with relatable examples and best of all its got up-to-date information! It seems like the chapters take only a short time to get through but its covering a lot of information at the same time. I rarely sit down and read entire chapters of textbooks, but with Schiller, it is POSSIBLE! Im also a big fan of the NEWS WIRE sections that relate the information in the section to an everyday news article. They are helpful to read when learning the different concepts.

Essentials of Economics, 9th Edition

The 9th edition is benefitted by SmartBook, the first adaptive reading experience designed to engage students with the content in an active and dynamic way, as opposed to the passive and linear reading experience they are used to. As a result, students are more likely to master and retain important concepts in the survey course. In addition to the suite of resources available within Connect Economics, over key topics are reinforced with interesting and innovative videos on YouTube, provided to help non-majors see the relevance of economics. Connect is the only integrated learning system that empowers students by continuously adapting to deliver precisely what they need, when they need it, and how they need it, so that your class time is more engaging and effective. Bradley R. Schiller has over four decades of experience teaching introductory economics at American University, the University of California Berkeley and Santa Cruz , the University of Maryland, and the University of Nevada Reno. He has given guest lectures at more than colleges ranging from Fresno, California, to Istanbul, Turkey.

Americans already enjoy living standards that far exceed world averages. Do we have enough? Should we even try to produce more? LO Answer: The reality of human nature is that needs are culturally conditioned. There is never enough. Just to maintain living standards as population grows will require more output. Why do we measure output in value terms rather than in physical terms?
