Joey and rory cancer journey
This Life I Live: One Mans Extraordinary, Ordinary Life and the Woman Who Changed It Forever by Rory FeekThe Love Story that Captured a Nation’s Heart
Joey and Rory Feek were enjoying a steadily growing fan base in country music when Joey was diagnosed unexpectedly with a rapidly spreading cancer. This vibrant and beautiful young woman would soon be on a unique journey for which no one is ever fully prepared. Her husband, Rory, and children, Heidi, Hopie, and Indiana, were beside her each step of the way. Rory, a prolific songwriter, entrepreneur, farmer, and overall tender man, has seen God bless his life in countless unexpected ways and had started a blog, thislifeilive.com, not really knowing its purpose other than he needed to write. That purpose soon became clearer when Joey’s cancer battle hit.
By inviting so many into the final months of Joey’s life, this astounding couple captured the hearts of millions with their powerful love story, the manner in which they were handling the diagnosis, and the inspiring simple way they had chosen to live their lives.
In this vulnerable book, Rory takes us into his own challenging life story and shows what can happen when God brings both his presence and the right companion into our lives. He also gives never-before-revealed details on what he calls “the long goodbye,” the blessing of being able to know that life is going to end and taking advantage of it. Feek shows how we all are actually there already and how we can learn to live that way every day. He then goes into detail toward the end of the book on what it’s like to try to move on with your life once you’ve “had it all.”
Country singer shares her last days on Earth
Rory Feek just posted a video to Facebook of his three-year-old daughter learning to walk, and it's definitely the sweetest thing you'll see today. In the video, Indiana, who has Down Syndrome, works her way up to walking on her own. First, she gets the hang of the motion with a walking device; then she manages to push herself up to stand on two feet.
Rory Feek on his 'unlikely' love story with Joey: 'Faith can change everything'
So we put our dreams on hold for a while and started getting ready for the baby that was coming in a few weeks. We believed that God would give us a great story…. He did. A gifted filmmaker, Rory had actually begun documenting his family's life well before his wife's cancer diagnosis. Set to Rory's narration, the film uses footage he captured during those years. The film opens at a turning point in the Feek's lives.
Country singer Joey Feek died on Friday after a long, public battle with cervical cancer. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior. Joey was just 40 when she died, and her struggle, which was documented by Rory on his blog, attracted attention from around the world. She underwent a hysterectomy, but her tumors grew back. I'm going to be that statistic that stands out and says, 'She fought it. While cervical cancer used to be the leading cause of cancer death for women in the U.
1. Life is worth fighting for—and it’s worth living when it’s hard
Joey stopped treatment for her cancer in October and entered hospice shortly thereafter. What has impressed me most about Joey and Rory during this very public battle is their faith in God. Their transparency of faith through what is literally the worst of times for them, has inspired me to tears time and time again. When Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer just a few months after baby Indiana was born, she fought for her life. And when more treatments needed to be pursued, they pursued them. She is on hospice, just managing pain and not treating the cancer that is killing her.
