Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling

There is a door at the end of a silent corridor. And it’s haunting Harry Pottter’s dreams. Why else would he be waking in the middle of the night, screaming in terror?

Harry has a lot on his mind for this, his fifth year at Hogwarts: a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher with a personality like poisoned honey; a big surprise on the Gryffindor Quidditch team; and the looming terror of the Ordinary Wizarding Level exams. But all these things pale next to the growing threat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named---a threat that neither the magical government nor the authorities at Hogwarts can stop.

As the grasp of darkness tightens, Harry must discover the true depth and strength of his friends, the importance of boundless loyalty, and the shocking price of unbearable sacrifice.

His fate depends on them all.

He is angry and fed up with the fact that none of his friends are telling him any news about the war against Voldemort. Harry and his cousin, Dudley, are suddenly attacked one night by a group of dementors, evil magical creatures with the ability to suck out souls. Although he is not allowed to use magic outside of school, Harry casts a spell which drives the dementors away.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the fifth book in J. Rowling 's Harry Potter book series. It was one of the most widely-anticipated books of the series, since there was a wait of three years between it and the previous book, Goblet of Fire. At 38 chapters, it is also the longest book in the series, having jokingly been labelled as heavier than a refrigerator by Stephen Fry at the Royal Albert Hall event and used as a benchmark for the size of the next two books. Harry is in his fifth year at Hogwarts School as the adventures continue.

The Dursleys keep up their usual nonsense — wizards are freaks, Harry is a wizard, therefore Harry is a freak — but Harry seems to have changed. He simmers with fury all the time. None of his friends are writing to him about the war with Voldemort, and he feels isolated and resentful. Harry starts provoking fights with his dumb cousin Dudley. He wants to have a target for his rage. But in the middle of one of these confrontations with Dudley, something completely bizarre happens. In Little Whinging, Surrey, two dementors show up!

We start Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix back in Little Whinging, Surrey , where Harry is stuck for yet another summer with his awful relatives, the.

Harry Potter returns for his fifth year at Hogwarts and discovers much of the wizarding community has been denied the truth about his recent encounter with Lord Voldemort. Harry takes matters into his own hands and secretly forms a self-proclaimed group of students, "Dumbledore's Army," prepping them for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.

After using magic to defend himself, Harry is visited by a group of wizards and whisked off to number twelve, Grimmauld Place, London. The Order is a group of wizards, led by Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore, dedicated to fighting evil Lord Voldemort and his followers. The Order is forced to operate in secrecy, outside of the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Magic, which is headed by the dense and corrupt Cornelius Fudge. Fudge refuses to believe that Lord Voldemort has returned. Harry used magic to fight off the dementors, and since underage wizards are not permitted to use their wands outside of school, he must face a disciplinary hearing at the Ministry. The Sorting Hat, which traditionally sorts all new students into one of four houses, cautions the students against becoming too internally divided. Meanwhile, the wizard newspaper, the Daily Prophet , continues printing untrue and unfair stories about Harry.
