Something really interesting that was mentioned is the fact that Splatoon 2 was developed at the same time as the updates for the original Splatoon on Wii U. The same thing also happened with the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion; they worked on it while they were working on new updates for Splatoon 2. Also, the Octolings amiibo were already planned since early in the development of the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion. The appearance of the Inkling in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was mentioned as well.
