Orbital halcyon and on and on
Halcyon and On and On: The Story of Orbital and the Rise of Rave by OrbitalA warts-and-all autobiography by the team of feuding brothers who are the biggest rave act of all time, Orbital
Over the course of thirty years as one of the bestselling and most recognizable techno acts on the planet, Orbital (the duo of brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll) has survived addictions, suicide, four marriages, and two splits and reunions. Halcyon and On and On is a great rock n roll story without any actual rock n roll, and, best of all, its never been told.
Since their first single Chime became a club hit in 1989, Paul and Phil have been at the heart of techno and rave music, viewed by critics more like an indie band than as a faceless dance act. In addition to millions of albums sold and career-defining performances at the Glastonbury Music Festival and the 2012 Olympics in London, theirs is a story of bust-ups and binges, suicide and addiction.
Paul and Phil have their share of dark secrets that would make most rock bands blush, but no matter how bitterly they fight and how deeply they resent each other, their family ties always bind them. And now the Hartnoll brothers want to tell their story themselves, in their own words, as an oral history. Their biggest problem, however, is that they both remember most of their history a little differently.
London Grammar - Hey Now [Arty remix]
A gorgeous title track opens the disc; one that shows up in its more definitive and widely available version on Orbital's second full-length album, Orbital 2 aka The Brown Album. Brothers Phil and Paul Hartnol invert a vocal sample from the single "It's a Fine Day" by pop group Opus III with sublime shape-shifting, one that yields a memorable patch in the quilt of techno history. After the sweat dries, the rest of the EP tries to stay afloat with a comparatively tiresome piece "The Naked and the Dead" that wears a bit thin, especially by rehashing it for 12 additional minutes through a remix "The Naked and the Dub".

The song features two samples from earlier international hit singles. Ed Barton , the composer of "It's a Fine Day", receives a co-writing credit for the track. The second is a vocal harmonies sample in the song " Leave It " from the album by the progressive rock band Yes.
