Venus and serena williams tennis coach
Venus Serena: My Seven Years As Hitting Coach for the Williams Sisters by Dave RinebergBooks written about sporting legends, as biographies, rarely add much if they concentrate on the major sporting achievements. These moments are best recorded by an independent journalist.
With this in mind, I was hoping that the behind the scenes, and decidedly unglamorous account of warm up drills might shed some light on the Williams girls
It was an enjoyable and light read and the author, Dave Rineberg, comes out as a decent and unassuming man. There’s not much to enlighten, and in this respect it’s interesting to confirm the monotony and lack of events in a teenage life spent hitting balls. The Williams made it; the majority of youngsters didn’t and possibly limited their life experiences in the formative years.
Ricard Williams is always the presence looming over analysis of Venus and Serena. He barely features here (such is the discretion of Rineberg), but even lightly touched his unpredictable personality is evident.
A good book to read as a backdrop when one of the tennis “majors” is being played.
Serena Williams - the story of a tennis sensation
Serena Jameka Williams born September 26, is an American professional tennis player and former world No. She has won 23 major singles titles, most by any man or woman in the Open Era. She reached the No. On her sixth occasion, she held the ranking for consecutive weeks , tying the record set by Steffi Graf. In total, she has been No. Williams holds the most Grand Slam titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles combined among active players. Her 39 Grand Slam titles put her joint-third on the all-time list and second in the Open Era: 23 in singles, 14 in women's doubles, and two in mixed doubles.
Updated September 09, Serena Williams made headlines for her sensational blow-up in her US Open final defeat to Naomi Osaka for being penalised three times in the second set, culminating in her losing a game — and then the match — to the unheralded year-old Japanese star. The incident that sparked Williams' implosion came after the first game of the second set, when chair umpire Carlos Ramos handed her a code violation for "coaching" from her coach Patrick Mouratoglou. Ramos spotted Mouratoglou holding his hands apart, indicating to Williams that she should be playing a little closer to the baseline, and instantly handed her a code violation. Although it was Mouratoglou who was the one communicating with Williams, the rules also say that players are responsible for the conduct of their parties, and so Williams was punished.
The Williams sisters are two professional American tennis players: Venus Williams b. There is a noted professional rivalry between them—between the US Open and the Australian Open tournaments, they met in nine Grand Slam singles finals. They became the first two players, female or male, to play in four consecutive Grand Slam singles finals from the French Open to the Australian Open; Serena famously won all four to complete the first of two "Serena Slams". Between and , a year span, they collectively won 12 Wimbledon singles titles Venus won five, and Serena won seven. By winning the Australian Open women's doubles title, they became the fifth pair to complete the Career Doubles Grand Slam and the only pair to complete the Career Doubles Golden Slam. At the time, Venus and Serena were only 20 and 19 years old, respectively. Since then, they have gone on to add another two Olympic gold medals in the Beijing Olympics and the London Olympics.
