So the story goes that there once was a highway robber who would rob his victims after murdering them. One day he meet his match however when he attempted to rob the Divine sage Narada who wise words caused the robber to beg Naradas forgiveness. The robber was so riddled with guilt he meditated for many years, so long in fact that ants hills sprung up around where he was seated to add to his torment, until one day a divine voice declared he had successfully paid his penance and his name shall now be 'Valmiki; meaning "one born out of anthills". So was was "Maharshi Valmiki born that day, or was it many years earlier when a highway robber was born?
